About Doug
Having joined SFIA in 1992, Doug is one of our longest-standing employees. Alongside his role as an adviser, Doug also uses his expertise to recruit, train and mentor new advisers and is responsible for the development of the team.
When not advising, Doug can usually be found coaching kids in the Kennet Kingfishers Basketball Club or racing around the West Berkshire countryside on his bike, while dreaming about exotic holidays in the sun.
What was your first job?
I was a paperboy in 1970, but my first real job was as a maths teacher.
What is still on your bucket list?
Being in a small boat very close to humpback whales leaping out of the water in Alaska or Norway.
What is the best advice or quote you have ever heard?
It would either be: “If you can read you can cook” or “Start with the end in mind”.
